Chartreuse is the dry ice of the color wheel: it's wonderfully, terribly cool, but you'll be wickedly burned if you don't handle it carefully. Don't wear it if you're too pale, lest you look like a science experiment. Don't wear it if you're over-primped and over-processed, lest you look like you've been exposed to serious levels of radiation.

If you dare to mess with chartreuse, be scrubbed, be clean, be slightly golden, and keep the accessories to a minimum. Let the green speak for itself.

We're fans of Diane Von Furstenburg. We're loving these dresses, which are a semi-departure from her usual wraps. These are semi-sexy, semi-flippy, and super cute, in a fresh-out-of-archival-school, young librarian sort of way.

Episode 88: Redux

Remember that episode of Sex and the City where Carrie and the Russian are sitting around, doing nothing? And she reads him a little Vogue? And she mentions she fancies the screaming-lipstick-pink Oscar de la Renta Dress, and later he goes out and buys it for her, and they go to the opera, and she faints beside the water fountain, and then they end up in McDonalds, ballroom dancing and using french fries as foreplay?

If you remember the episode, then perhaps you'll be pleased to note that Oscar has made that dress again. This time it's in gold, and he pairs it with a chunky necklace and some darling t-strap heels.

Whether it's prophetic serendipity or simple coincidence, we've noticed a sweet little trend that will soon be gracing the hands of a socialite near you. Yesterday's deep aubergine nail polish is giving way to tomorrow's licks of sweet, red candy.

We're loving this look. Fresh from the runway, this is Verrier Fall 2006 RTW.

It's just quirky enough to be sexy, and just sexy enough to be quirky. Dig the shiny leather round-toes, the lacey detail at the elbows and collar, the folksy black bow with beaded detail.

Add something frilly and black underneath, and you're set for a racy day at the office.

rockstar glam

Jean Paul Gauthier's Spring 2006 collection was punctuated with clothing worthy of a well-renumerated musician (read: rockstar). Outfits suited for causing a stir in public? Check. Outfits suited for a performance of your latest club hit at the Grammy Awards? Check. It wasn't a coincidence that Madonna was in the front row; we're sure she was taking notes.

Smashingly Fabulous loved the bullet-proof black shades, the hits of black followed with punches of saturated colour, the flashes of skin through sheer fabric. We loved the hair twisted and piled into top-knots, we loved the acid green gowns and the acid gold platforms. We loved the moments that were perfectly rockstar glam.
