We're craving caramel for spring. Love the flowy skirt and the ankle strap shoes. The girly factor is tempered by the leather jacket. C'est bon.

We were just about finished with the beaded necklaces, and then we saw this. Super big and mildly offensive. Like a slap in the face. We love.

We're mulling over these clean, sweet offerings from Burberry Prorsum for Spring. While we usually wouldn't fall for something so safe, we must admit that the warm, caramel tones have put a toffee-flavoured spell on us. We love the idea of looking so effortlessly relaxed and yet so meticulously put-together. We love the soft color that floats through this collection. We love the easy little caps, the black platform peep-toes, and the nude round-toes.

More and more, we're noticing an emerging trend in footwear. Equal parts haute couture and medieval torture device, these shoes blend natural materials, extreme height, and extreme style. We love the juxtaposition of natural form (chunky, glossy wood, sexy curves, luxe leathers) with pure sexual edge.

On a strictly hypothetical level, we can imagine that these would make fabulous S&M props. Strap on the shoes and crack your crocodile leather whips, ladies.

We love Anna Sui, we promise we do. Smashingly Fabulous has always had a fetish for camouflage, dating back to the days of college boys and their requisite army pants. We're happy to note that Michael Kors has made a few camouflage offerings in his Spring '06 collection. Resplendently fabulous, these are girly and bring just the right amount of edge.

Absolutely loving this long, relaxed gown. Wear it with a pair of chunky, easy brown boots (think Chloé) for early spring, and later with a pair of chunky brown sandals. We love the sandals that Kors chooses here, but a word to the wise: these are already everywhere.

Here's a great little mini. Note the rugged brown boots, and creamy, oversize sweater. Knobby knees sold separately.

We're fans of Diane Von Furstenburg. We're loving these dresses, which are a semi-departure from her usual wraps. These are semi-sexy, semi-flippy, and super cute, in a fresh-out-of-archival-school, young librarian sort of way.

Remember that episode of Sex and the City where Carrie and the Russian are sitting around, doing nothing? And she reads him a little Vogue? And she mentions she fancies the screaming-lipstick-pink Oscar de la Renta Dress, and later he goes out and buys it for her, and they go to the opera, and she faints beside the water fountain, and then they end up in McDonalds, ballroom dancing and using french fries as foreplay?

If you remember the episode, then perhaps you'll be pleased to note that Oscar has made that dress again. This time it's in gold, and he pairs it with a chunky necklace and some darling t-strap heels.

Whether it's prophetic serendipity or simple coincidence, we've noticed a sweet little trend that will soon be gracing the hands of a socialite near you. Yesterday's deep aubergine nail polish is giving way to tomorrow's licks of sweet, red candy.

We're loving this look. Fresh from the runway, this is Verrier Fall 2006 RTW.

It's just quirky enough to be sexy, and just sexy enough to be quirky. Dig the shiny leather round-toes, the lacey detail at the elbows and collar, the folksy black bow with beaded detail.

Add something frilly and black underneath, and you're set for a racy day at the office.

Jean Paul Gauthier's Spring 2006 collection was punctuated with clothing worthy of a well-renumerated musician (read: rockstar). Outfits suited for causing a stir in public? Check. Outfits suited for a performance of your latest club hit at the Grammy Awards? Check. It wasn't a coincidence that Madonna was in the front row; we're sure she was taking notes.

Smashingly Fabulous loved the bullet-proof black shades, the hits of black followed with punches of saturated colour, the flashes of skin through sheer fabric. We loved the hair twisted and piled into top-knots, we loved the acid green gowns and the acid gold platforms. We loved the moments that were perfectly rockstar glam.

There are few men like Matthew Williamson. He can channel Michelle Pfeiffer à la Scarface like nobody's business. And lord, what the man can do with a bolt of silk.

The woman who wears Matthew is fiercely glam, but she acts like she doesn't give a shit about it. She's effortlessly sexy, but clearly puts a hell of a lot of effort into her appearance. She looks like she'd know what to do with a line of coke, but you'd never, ever catch her with one.

Donna Karan is a bit like Harper's Bazaar: there are moments when she's clearly on her game, and then there are the moments when she's searching, searching, searching for something the rest of us can't see.

Much like Harper's, the DKNY demographic is best described as a 30 to 40 something woman who fancies herself as a crisp 25 year old. From a business perspective, that's a profitable chunk of the market to be pandering to: firmly ensconced in their careers, these are women who aren't afraid to lay down the dollars to build a wardrobe.

So why, dear Donna, would you want to scare them all off with a collection that makes even your 19 year old models look like 70's era house hags?

Don't know about you, but we'll be filing DKNY Spring 2006 RTW under "Not so Fabulous".

Chanel Spring 2006 Couture: in my estimation, there were more misses than hits in this collection. Karl, darling, galoshes are not sexy. Loose and bunchy panty hose? Also not sexy - quite repulsive, actually. And, hate to break it to you, but the gowns closing out the show made the girls look like gothic wedding cake toppers.

Several of the suits were gorgeous, but the one moment of fabulousness came just after the midway point, when Karl sent the kinky victorian school mistress down the runway. She certainly looks like she knows what to do with a wooden ruler.
